Walking, the Power to Age Well & Enjoy Life

This past weekend I was able to fly to New York and visit my son. It was a quick turnaround with abut 48 hours to enjoy time together and see the sights of the city and surrounding areas. We aimed to walk as many places as we could and also take the subway when needed to get back and forth from Manhattan to Brooklyn. The weather was absolutely beautiful and naturally the city was very busy. So many people were out enjoying the weather, having picnics, spending time with their children, and taking their dogs for a walk.

We averaged around 23,000 steps each day for a total of 20 - 25 miles walked over the weekend. As we walked, climbed stairs, and rode City Bikes it became more apparent to me than ever, health is not just about aesthetics. Health is about the abiity to enjoy life, laugh, spend time with family and friends, and explore new places.

Being healthy means being able to get up early stay out all day and night and not get tired. It means being able to climb stairs and keep our balance and strength as we age. Getting up, getting out and curating a life well lived is something that happens with intention. Being able to stay active as we age is a richness greater than anything money can buy!

Walking is free and something anyone can start today.
